Y-Motor Cable Replacement

Before you begin

This guide will take you through replacing the Y-motor cable in NOVA. Before beginning this guide you should have been in contact with our support team and received replacement parts.

Estimated Repair Time:

  • 20 minutes

Tools you will need:

  • T20 Torx bit + screwdriver

  • Flush cutters / scissors

  • 2 small zip ties

Parts you have received from Voltera:

  • Y-motor cable

Replace the Y-Motor Cable

Disconnect NOVA from power

Ensure that NOVA is turned off with the power button and then unplug the power cable.

Remove the backplate

With a T20 Torx bit remove the 6 screws (2 on the back side, 4 on the bottom of the panel) securing the back panel. Once the screws are out you can pull the back panel out by tilting it up slightly and then pulling away from the machine.

Locate the Y-motor cable

Now that the back panel is off locate the Y-motor cable in the bottom right corner of NOVA. It connects the main control board to the Y-motor.

Remove the Y-Motor cable

Carefully snip the zip ties holding the cable in place with a pair of flush cutters.

The second zip tie holds 2 cables.

Disconnect the cable from the control board and motor.

The control board connector has a tab that must be pushed in to remove the cable

The motor end can be carefully wiggled out by pulling down on both ends of the connector (it has no locking tab or latch):

Insert the new cable

Plug in the new cable and reattach the zip ties so that the cables are mounted in the same way before. Trim the excess zip tie tail away once it is snug.

Reattach the backplate

Put the back plate back into place and with a T20 Torx bit secure the 6 screws (2 on the back side, 4 on the bottom of the panel).

Turn NOVA back on!

You can now plug NOVA back in and turn it on using the power button.

Repair Complete!

Congratulations, you have successfully replaced NOVAs Y-motor cable!
