## Accessing the Z-Max Switch

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Remove tools

Remove the probe (or dispenser) from the carriage. This will make it easier to access the z-max switch.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Lower the carriage

In the V-One software, open up the console by pressing the \~ key or alt + c and run the command: `G1 Z-9`&#x20;

<figure><img src="/files/WrDvP8JVRsUXTL3oivdS" alt="" width="272"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

This will lower the carriage.

<br>
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Remove the black top cap

This part is pressure fit onto the top of the carriage and can be removed by pushing up on the front first, then the back, and pulling it out on an angle. This will give you easy access to the z-max switch.

{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Test the Z-Max Switch

{% stepper %}
{% step %}

### Check the state of the Z-Max switch

Run the command D2 in the console. You’ll want to confirm that the z-max switch is showing as open since it currently isn’t making contact with anything:

<p align="center"><img src="https://lh7-rt.googleusercontent.com/slidesz/AGV_vUf8X2XV1dkQDhzWnHdoNLhyOxwvrKdCXwFQLic9YER6Ze3cSZXkOcrxiAwzieAqtA0Z6Xm4U34TFGtGOjq5IM9Wf4vCziQ1bvIulFuYiFs2R5eTNuSmasgflpQQR4WJIDmOXdYsJi-_dF8zz0NDqHVAexDZGAV9=s2048?key=CfdcFTDAz5R2Q_Eud-3smA" alt=""></p>

*If the switch is showing as triggered with nothing making contact, then there is an issue with the switch.*
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Manually press Z-Max Switch

With tweezers (or something similar) manually press down on the z-max switch and then release it. Watching the console in the V-One software, the z-max switch should show as TRIGGERED when pressed and open when released:

<figure><img src="/files/FK5SoYkCarkv4UYScPm6" alt="" width="253"><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

If there is any issue with the performance of the switch, let Voltera Support know.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Replace the black top cap

The testing is complete. Press fit the cap black cap back onto the carriage. Feel free to home the machine to raise the carriage up again so it's ready for use.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Test Complete! <a href="#test-complete" id="test-complete"></a>

Congratulations, you have successfully tested the V-One's Z-Max switch!

Please reach back out to our support team through email (<support@voltera.io>) or the chat to let them know everything went well or share any photos, details, and feedback.
